Who is Ana, tell something about yourself
Em primeiro lugar acho que me devo apresentar; o meu nome é Ana Cruz, tenho 29 anos e vivo no Porto (Portugal). Esta oportunidade de trabalhar com os Netherbird surgiu pelo facto de ter uma galeria no deviantArt e a banda ter gostado dos meus trabalhos.
Falando um pouco sobre mim, sou uma pessoa que gosta do género de música que os Netherbird produzem e isso, por si só, já me deu um grande prazer em realizar a imagem. Na minha vida profissional optei por ser maquilhadora profissional pois é realmente o que gosto de fazer. Tenho um curso universitário de português e inglês na vertente do ensino mas não me senti realizada o suficiente. Gosto de tudo o que se relacione com arte e cultura, acho que é uma das melhores formas que temos para nos expressar, até porque é um meio de expressão universal. Adoro poesia, filosofia e antropologia. A fotomanipulação é o meu hobbie preferido e para já não penso fazer carreira através dela. Posso considerar-me uma auto-didata, pois não tenho nenhum curso relacionado com a área nem ninguém me ensinou.
What is your inspiration when you do your art? Can you describe your style?
A minha inspiração basicamente são os meus sentimentos e o meu estado de espírito; concordo que possa ser um cliché mas, é a verdade. Simplesmente o facto de estar a ouvir música, por exemplo, faz-me criar estados de espírito que me trazem à superfície imensas emoções e, claro, vontade de as tornar visíveis através desta forma de arte. Não penso que tenha um estilo defnido pois não me resumo a fantasia, dark, emocional, surreal, etc. Gosto de variar entre todos estes temas pois, os nossos estados de espírito variam consoante as situações. Tento sempre inserir alguma mensagem nos meus trabalhos, um sentimento mais profundo e intenso, algo com que todas as pessoas se consigam identificar.
Tell someting about the artwork for Netherbird. What do they symbolize for you?
A imagem que fiz para os Netherbird, inicialmente era para outra música (Blood Orchid) mas adequou-se melhor a Love Under Will. Como penso que ambas as músicas retratam o mesmo tipo de sentimento, a imagem facilmente se adapta. A orquídea que sangra pode representar a nossa dor ou a nossa vontade de passar os obstáculos que temos pela frente (o mar que nos impede de chegar ao lugar idícilo). A banda em si é bastante inovadora, quer no som, através de acordes que marcam a diferença, quer na forma de contacto inicial com o público. Desta forma há um acesso bem mais facilitado e possibilitando assim uma abordagem mais geral e rápida com todo o mundo.

A todos os que visitarem esta página, apreciem bem todos os recantos e detalhes. Esta página foi elaborada a pensar em todos os amantes de metal e claro, dos Netherbird em particular. Who is Ana, tell something about yourself
First of all I think I should introduce myself; my name is Ana Cruz, I'm 29 years old and I live in Oporto (Portugal). The oportunity to work with Netherbird came dueing to the fact that I have a gallery in deviantArt and they liked my work.
I'm a person who already loves the musical style that Netherbird produces, and by that, I already had huge pleasure doing this work. For a professional life I choose to be a professional makeup artist and that's what I really love to do. I have a Portuguese and English unversity course but I felt it was not enough for me, I didn't felt acomplished with it. I love everything related to art and culture and I think it's one of the best ways we have to express ourselves, being already an universal way of expression. I also love poetry, philosophy and anthropology.
Photomanipulation is my favourite hobbie but for now I'm not planing to build a career out of it. I may consider myself as a self-taught because i have no course in this area and noone taught me about it.
What is your inspiration when you do your art? Can you describe your style?
Basicly my inspiration are my feelings and state of mind; I agree that it may be a cliché but, it's the truth. Just by the fact of earing music, I unleash states of mind that brings deep emotions to the surface and, with all that, I feel the need to put them all out through this art form. I don't think I have a personal and defined style because i don't do always artworks related to fantasy, dark, emotional, surreal styles, etc. I like to change and use all these themes, since our states of mind change everyday. I always try to have a deep message within my works, intense feelings that everyone can identify themselves to.
Tell someting about the artwork for Netherbird. What do they symbolize for you?
Inicialy, the image I did for Netherbird was for another song (Blood orchid) but it was decided that it would fit better in the song Love Under Will. In my opinion, both songs have the same kind of feeling, so the image fits them well. The bleeding orchid may represent our inner pain or the will to pass the obstacles (the sea that won't let us reach our idilic land). The band itself is very inovative, is it trought the sound with riffs that make the difference or the inicial aproach to the public. Like this, there is an easy way to access everyone, a quick and efficient aproach to the public all around the world.

To everyone who visits the Netherbird website, please apreciate very well all the corners and details. This site was created thinking about all the metal lovers and of course, to the Netherbird fans in particular. I wish that you enjoy Netherbird's music and also all the artwork within this project.
